How it works

Step 1

Enter a URL

Any public page — yours or a competitor's.

Step 2

We fetch it once

And extract every metadata surface: title, description, canonical, robots, viewport, OG, Twitter, JSON-LD, hreflang, H1.

Step 3

12-point grade

Each check passes, warns, or fails — with character counts and the extracted values shown.

Step 4

Fix what fails

Every warn and fail comes with the concrete change to make.

Why it matters

Metadata is the first thing every engine reads — and the cheapest thing to fix.

Before a search engine ranks your page or an AI engine cites it, both read the same few tags: title, description, canonical, robots, structured data. A missing meta description or accidental noindex costs you traffic invisibly. These are five-minute fixes that compound across every page.

Structured data is how AI engines understand your page.

JSON-LD tells engines what a page is — an article, a product, an FAQ — and AI engines lean on it when deciding what to extract and cite. An invalid JSON-LD block (one trailing comma is enough) is silently ignored, which means you lose the benefit without any error showing up anywhere. Validation matters as much as presence.

Social cards are conversion surfaces, not decoration.

When your link is shared in Slack, X, LinkedIn, or a group chat, the Open Graph tags decide whether it renders as a rich card or a bare URL. Bare URLs get measurably fewer clicks. If og:title, og:description, and og:image aren't set, every share is leaving traffic on the table.

With Meev

Meev ships every article with this checklist already green.

Hand-fixing metadata page by page doesn't scale. Every article Meev publishes ships with optimized title and description lengths, canonical, full Open Graph and Twitter cards, and valid JSON-LD matched to the content type — automatically.

  • Complete metadata and schema on every generated article — no manual pass
  • FAQ and Article structured data tuned for AI-engine extraction
  • Visibility tracking shows whether engines actually cite the pages

Frequently asked

What metadata does this tool check?

Twelve points: title tag (with length), meta description (with length), canonical URL, robots directive, viewport, Open Graph title and description, Open Graph image, Twitter card, JSON-LD structured data (presence and validity), hreflang alternates, and H1 structure.

What's the ideal title and meta description length?

Titles: 30–60 characters — long enough to use the relevance space, short enough to avoid truncation in results. Meta descriptions: 140–160 characters. Both should front-load the primary keyword and read like an answer, not a keyword list.

Why does my JSON-LD fail validation?

The usual culprits are trailing commas, unquoted keys, single quotes instead of double quotes, or HTML entities that got escaped inside the script block. Engines silently skip invalid JSON-LD — no error appears in any console — so an invalid block is the same as no block.

Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter card tags?

Mostly yes. X falls back to Open Graph when Twitter tags are absent, but an explicit twitter:card tag renders more reliably, and other platforms (Slack, LinkedIn, iMessage, WhatsApp) read Open Graph. The pair costs four lines of HTML and covers every share surface.

Does good metadata help with AI search?

Yes — AI engines read titles, descriptions, and especially structured data when deciding what a page is about and whether to cite it. Valid FAQPage and Article schema in particular map directly to how AI engines extract answers.

Stop fixing pages one at a time.
