xFunnel review (2026): the HubSpot acquisition + alternatives
xFunnel no longer exists as a product you can buy. Here is what it did, where the technology went, and what to use instead.
By Judy Zhou, Founder, Meev
The short version
xFunnel was an enterprise answer engine optimization platform that measured brand visibility across AI engines and ran analyst-supported experiments to improve it. HubSpot announced its acquisition on October 31, 2025 (reported at $30M), and the standalone product is no longer purchasable: the technology relaunched as HubSpot AEO in April 2026 at $50/mo, standalone or inside Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise. If you are searching for xFunnel today, your real choice is between HubSpot AEO and independent platforms.

What is xFunnel?
xFunnel's pitch was to turn answer engines into your best sales channel. The product identified the questions people ask AI engines (segmented by intent, region, and persona), tracked brand share of voice and sentiment across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, and Grok, analyzed which sources got cited, and ran improvement experiments through playbooks backed by dedicated analysts and weekly strategy meetings. For a company under a year old it assembled a striking enterprise logo wall: Wix, monday.com, Fiverr, MyHeritage, LastPass, and Getty Images among them.
The independent run was short. Founded in January 2025 by Beeri Amiel and Neri Bluman, xFunnel announced on October 31, 2025 that it was being acquired by HubSpot, reportedly for $30M, as HubSpot's first acquisition in Israel. The technology was folded into HubSpot AEO, which went generally available on April 14, 2026. Today xfunnel.ai is a frozen marketing shell: the last blog post is the acquisition announcement, legal links point to HubSpot, and the pricing page's only CTA is 'Get updates'.

xFunnel pricing
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free Starter | $0 | A one-time audit of 50 queries across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity. The CTA now reads 'Get updates'; there is no purchase path. |
| Enterprise | Custom | The historic sales-led tier: unlimited queries, daily monitoring, all engines, managed services. No longer sold. |
| HubSpot AEO (successor) | $50/mo | Where the technology lives now: standalone, or included in Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise. |
Status verified July 19, 2026 against xfunnel.ai/pricing: both remaining tiers show 'Get updates' CTAs with no checkout. xFunnel never published a dollar-priced self-serve plan while independent. HubSpot AEO pricing is from HubSpot's April 2026 launch. Source
The xFunnel timeline, dated
January 2025: founded in Israel by Beeri Amiel and Neri Bluman, backed by a single undisclosed pre-seed round from Verissimo Ventures. Mid-2025: first enterprise partnerships land roughly six months after founding, and the customer wall fills out with names like Wix, monday.com, Fiverr, MyHeritage, LastPass, and Getty Images. The research blog publishes credible original work, including a study of 270,000+ business queries across AI engines. By August 2025 the agency tier is marked 'At Capacity' with a waitlist.
October 31, 2025: HubSpot announces an agreement to acquire xFunnel, its first acquisition in Israel. HubSpot never discloses terms; MarketScreener reports the price at $30M. The xFunnel blog stops that day, and the site freezes: the footer still reads 2025, legal links point to legal.hubspot.com, and every pricing CTA becomes 'Get updates'.
April 14, 2026: HubSpot AEO goes generally available, built on the acquired technology, at $50/mo standalone or included in Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise. Mid-2026: the free one-time audit on xfunnel.ai quietly shrinks from 100 queries a month to 50 one-time, and the dashboard login remains only for legacy accounts. Ten months from founding to exit makes xFunnel one of the fastest acquisitions in the AI visibility category.
What made xFunnel notable while it lasted
Two things distinguished xFunnel from the dashboard-only crowd. First, breadth of engine coverage for its era: ChatGPT (including browsing mode), Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, and Grok, with Meta AI and DeepSeek announced as coming when the site froze. Second, an unusually heavy human services layer: every enterprise account got dedicated analysts, weekly strategy meetings, tailored playbooks, and managed services that went as far as Reddit thread management, Wikipedia strategy, and affiliate network activation.
That services-heavy model explains both the enterprise logo wall and the structural weakness. The 'action' in xFunnel's measure-analyze-act loop was largely delivered by people, not product. It never shipped a self-serve paid tier, never published a price, and its experimentation platform claimed 20-40%+ visibility improvement potential that customers could only access through a sales process. When HubSpot bought the company, what it bought was the measurement technology and the team; the analyst layer became HubSpot's problem to productize.
If you were evaluating xFunnel: the decision now
If you already run HubSpot Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise, the answer is easy: AEO is included in your hub (or $50/mo standalone), it is the direct descendant of xFunnel's technology, and it lives inside the CRM where your funnel data already sits. For HubSpot-native marketing teams it is the lowest-friction way to get AI visibility measurement.
If you wanted an independent, self-serve platform, evaluate against the gaps xFunnel itself had: transparent pricing you can budget without a sales call, daily tracking rather than periodic audits, and an action loop that ships fixes as product capability rather than analyst hours. That checklist points to the current self-serve platforms; Meev covers all three from $49/mo, including the content production xFunnel only offered as a managed enterprise service.
If what you actually valued was the white-glove model, dedicated analysts and weekly strategy calls, that buying pattern still exists but lives at the enterprise tier of the category: Profound's sales-led deployments are the closest match to how xFunnel sold.
HubSpot AEO vs dedicated AI visibility platforms
HubSpot AEO's $50/mo price undercuts every dedicated platform, and for teams already paying for Marketing Hub the marginal cost can be zero. What you get is measurement and recommendations with CRM context, which is genuinely useful for attribution questions the standalone trackers struggle with.
What you give up is depth and independence. A dedicated platform is where the specialized capabilities live: broader and faster engine tracking, per-page diagnostic audits, content generation with quality gates, publishing integrations beyond the HubSpot CMS, and classic Google rank tracking alongside AI citations. And the ecosystem cut runs the other way too: if you ever leave HubSpot, the AEO capability leaves with it. The honest framing is that HubSpot AEO is a strong feature inside a suite, while the platforms in the comparison table above are complete programs.
Strengths and limitations
Where xFunnel is strong
- ✓Broad engine coverage for its time, including Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, and Grok.
- ✓Action-oriented by design: playbooks, experiments, and content briefs tied to findings rather than dashboards alone.
- ✓A strong white-glove layer: dedicated analysts and weekly strategy meetings.
- ✓A remarkable enterprise customer list for a ten-month-old company: Wix, monday.com, Fiverr, MyHeritage, LastPass, Getty Images.
- ✓Technology validated by the exit: HubSpot built its flagship AEO product on it.
Where it falls short
- ✕No longer available: the standalone product cannot be purchased, and the site has been frozen since the acquisition announcement.
- ✕Never had transparent pricing: enterprise sales-led and demo-gated from day one, with the agency tier waitlisted even before the acquisition.
- ✕The action layer depended on human analysts rather than self-serve product features.
- ✕Content creation existed only as a managed service on the enterprise tier, never as a self-serve capability.
- ✕Its successor lives inside HubSpot: AEO makes the most sense if you already run Marketing Hub.

Verdict
If you are already a HubSpot Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise customer, HubSpot AEO is the natural way to get the xFunnel technology, at a fraction of what the old enterprise contracts cost.
If you want an independent, self-serve platform that both measures AI visibility and ships the fixes, look at the current field instead: Meev tracks every major AI surface plus Google, publishes quality-gated content, and includes citation outreach from $49/mo, with no sales call and no ecosystem lock-in.

What is HubSpot AEO?⌄

It went GA in April 2026 at $50/mo standalone, or included in Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise, and focuses on measuring and improving how brands appear in AI answers within the HubSpot ecosystem.
How much did xFunnel cost before the acquisition?⌄
xFunnel never published self-serve pricing. It offered a free one-time audit and custom-priced, sales-led enterprise plans with dedicated analyst support; its agency tier was waitlisted. A third-party claim of a $45/mo plan does not match any live or archived xFunnel pricing page.

For HubSpot customers, HubSpot AEO is the direct successor at $50/mo. For an independent full-loop platform, Meev tracks every major AI search surface plus Google, publishes quality-gated content, and includes citation outreach from $49/mo self-serve. Profound fits enterprises that want a sales-led, white-glove model like xFunnel's.
Who founded xFunnel?⌄
Beeri Amiel and Neri Bluman founded xFunnel in Israel in January 2025, backed by a pre-seed round from Verissimo Ventures. Roughly ten months later HubSpot acquired the company, its first acquisition in Israel, reportedly for $30M.
Which AI platforms did xFunnel track?⌄
ChatGPT (including browsing), Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, and Grok, with Meta AI and DeepSeek listed as coming soon when the site froze. The free tier covered only ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity.
Can I still log in to xFunnel?⌄
The dashboard login link (dash.xfunnel.ai) is still present on the site for existing accounts, but there is no sign-up or purchase path for new customers. New teams are directed to HubSpot AEO instead.
