Scrunch AI review (2026): pricing, Sitecore deal, alternatives
A genuinely differentiated AI visibility platform with a delivery layer no one else has, a $300/mo entry price, and a brand-new corporate parent. What buyers should know.
By Judy Zhou, Founder, Meev
The short version
Scrunch AI monitors how your brand shows up across AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews, Meta AI) and pairs that with its real differentiator: an Agent Experience Platform that serves AI crawlers a machine-readable version of your site at the CDN layer. Pricing starts at $300/mo and leans mid-market to enterprise. The big recent development: Sitecore acquired Scrunch in June 2026 (Bloomberg reported roughly $225M); the product still sells standalone today, but its long-term roadmap points into Sitecore's DXP suite.

What is Scrunch AI?
Scrunch's pitch is to monitor and improve your brand's visibility in AI search, and the monitoring half looks like the category standard done well: prompt-level tracking with presence, position, sentiment, and share-of-answer benchmarking, filterable by topic, persona, model, and region; citation tracking; competitor benchmarking; and unusually good plumbing, including AI crawler analytics (which bots crawl what, how often) and GA4-based attribution of human visits that originate from AI engines.
The second half is what makes Scrunch structurally different. Its Agent Experience Platform (AXP) creates a parallel, AI-optimized version of your pages and serves it to AI crawlers at the CDN layer (Akamai, Cloudflare, and Vercel integrations): it intercepts AI retrieval traffic, strips code and renders content into machine-readable sections, and serves compressed, structured output. Founded in 2023 by Chris Andrew and Robert MacCloy (both ex-Hearsay Systems), Scrunch raised $19M+ across seed and Series A, claims 500+ companies and agencies including Lenovo, Skims, and Crunchbase, and was acquired by Sitecore in June 2026.
What Scrunch AI does
Prompt-level visibility monitoring
Presence, position, sentiment, and share of answer across the major AI platforms, sliceable by topic, persona, model, and region, with competitor benchmarks.
Agent Experience Platform (AXP)
Detects AI retrieval traffic at the CDN layer and serves a machine-readable version of your pages. The Clerk case study on their site claims a 9x increase in sign-ups from AI search.
AI crawler and referral analytics
Bot-level crawl data (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot: frequency, diversity, most-crawled pages) plus GA4 integration attributing human visits from AI engines.
Citation tracking and page audits
Which sources AI engines use to build answers, automatic technical error detection, and per-page audits (5 to 10 included per tier).
Scrunch AI pricing

Pricing verified July 19, 2026 against scrunch.com/pricing. Annual billing is a 17% discount (effectively two months free); extra seats are $25/mo. A 7-day Starter trial is self-serve with no credit card. Note: older third-party reviews and even Scrunch's own FAQ pages still describe a retired 'Core $250 / Agency Core $500' lineup; the current packaging is Starter/Growth/Enterprise with the full engine set on every tier. The Sitecore acquisition, and what it means for buyers
On June 3, 2026, Sitecore announced it was acquiring Scrunch; neither company disclosed terms, and Bloomberg reported a price of approximately $225M. Sitecore's stated plan is to combine Scrunch's capabilities with SitecoreAI across content management, content marketing, and digital asset management. As of mid-July 2026, the standalone product is unchanged: scrunch.com still sells Starter and Growth self-serve, and the pricing and FAQ pages make no mention of Sitecore at all.
For existing Sitecore customers this is straightforwardly good news: AI visibility and the AXP delivery layer are coming to a suite they already run. For everyone else, it introduces the classic post-acquisition questions, and the xFunnel-to-HubSpot precedent from late 2025 shows how fast a standalone product can become an ecosystem feature. Sensible diligence before signing an annual Scrunch contract now: ask directly about the standalone roadmap, contract portability into Sitecore packaging, and data export terms if the product is folded in. The category is consolidating quickly (xFunnel to HubSpot, Semrush to Adobe's orbit, Scrunch to Sitecore), and betting on an independent roadmap deserves a written answer, not a verbal one.
The Agent Experience Platform: Scrunch's real differentiator
Most tools in this category stop at telling you AI engines cannot read your site. AXP is Scrunch's attempt to fix that mechanically, in three stages. Intercept: it detects AI retrieval traffic at the CDN layer (via Akamai, Cloudflare, or Vercel integrations) and routes verified AI bots to an AI-optimized experience, while claiming normal Google and Bing indexing is unaffected. Translate: it strips code, renders server-side, and restructures pages into machine-readable sections: headings, definitions, FAQs, pricing, policies. Serve: it delivers compressed, structured output mapped back to your sources of truth.
This matters most for JavaScript-heavy sites whose content AI crawlers cannot reliably extract, and the vendor case studies are striking, if company-reported: Clerk cites a 9x increase in sign-ups from AI search, Akamai a 364% lift in brand presence on non-branded prompts, Runpod a 400% increase in paying customers from AI search. The honest framing: AXP fixes the delivery of content you already have. If the underlying problem is missing or weak content, no CDN-layer translation fixes that; that half of the loop still needs a content engine.
What Scrunch costs, and the stale-packaging trap
Current packaging (verified on the live pricing page): Starter at $300/mo or $250/mo billed annually (3 seats, 350 custom prompts, 1,000 industry prompts), Growth at $500/mo or $417 annually (5 seats, 700 custom prompts, 2,500 industry prompts), and a custom Enterprise tier that adds SAML/OIDC SSO and the Enterprise Data API. Extra seats are $25/mo, annual billing works out to two months free, and the 7-day Starter trial needs no card.
Two budgeting notes. First, prompt allowances are shared across engines: tracking eight platforms burns the same prompt budget eight times faster than tracking one, so the effective cost of full coverage depends on how many engines you actually monitor. Second, beware stale information when researching: Scrunch repackaged its tiers, and both older third-party reviews and some of Scrunch's own FAQ pages still describe a retired 'Core $250 / Agency Core $500' lineup, with claims like Claude and Gemini being enterprise-only that are no longer true. Trust the live pricing page over anything else, including their FAQ.
Who Scrunch fits, and who it does not
Scrunch fits mid-market and enterprise brands with technical SEO resources and control of their CDN, where the AXP layer can actually be deployed, and agencies running sophisticated client programs. If your site is JavaScript-heavy, your crawler logs show AI bots bouncing, and you have engineering support, Scrunch addresses a problem most competitors only report on. The 500+ customer base and names like Lenovo and Skims suggest exactly that buyer profile.
It does not fit budget-constrained SMBs (the $300 floor plus a 7-day trial is the whole low end), teams without technical resources to act on crawler-level findings, or anyone whose bottleneck is producing the content itself: Scrunch monitors and optimizes delivery, but writing, quality-gating, and publishing remain external. And if roadmap independence matters to you, the Sitecore acquisition moves Scrunch into the same category as HubSpot AEO: excellent if you are in the ecosystem, an open question if you are not.
Strengths and limitations
Where Scrunch AI is strong
- ✓AXP is a real structural differentiator: no other tracker also fixes delivery by serving AI crawlers a machine-readable site version at the CDN layer.
- ✓AI crawler analytics with crawl-level detail few competitors match, included rather than sold as an add-on.
- ✓GA4 integration for AI referral attribution that reviewers call the best they evaluated.
- ✓Full engine set on every plan under current packaging, with position and sentiment (not just presence) on competitor tracking.
- ✓Credible enterprise proof: 500+ customers claimed, named accounts like Lenovo, Skims, and Crunchbase, and vendor case studies (Akamai, Runpod, Clerk) with large reported lifts.
Where it falls short
- ✕No budget tier: $300/mo minimum (or $250 annual) with only a 7-day trial below it, which prices out SMBs and solo marketers.
- ✕Prompt budgets are shared across engines, so monitoring more AI platforms consumes the allowance faster.
- ✕Export and reporting constraints: G2 reviewers cite the inability to mass-export data as a significant drawback.
- ✕Coverage gaps: no Reddit or community monitoring, no DeepSeek, and Grok still 'coming soon' per their own FAQ.
- ✕SSO and the Data API are Enterprise-only, and content creation still happens outside the tool.
- ✕Post-acquisition uncertainty: Sitecore plans to fold the capabilities into its DXP, and the standalone product's long-term roadmap is not addressed publicly.

Verdict
On product, Scrunch earned its reputation: monitoring depth on par with anyone, plus crawler analytics and the AXP delivery layer that nobody else offers. For a mid-market or enterprise team with CDN control and technical SEO resources, especially one whose diagnosis is 'AI engines cannot consume our JavaScript-heavy site', it is arguably the strongest single answer on the market.
The buying decision now has two asterisks. Price: at $300 to $500/mo plus enterprise gating for SSO and the API, it is a committed line item, and the tool still leaves content work to you. And the acquisition: Sitecore says Scrunch's capabilities will be combined into its DXP, which is great news for Sitecore customers and an open question for everyone else. If you want an independent, self-serve platform that closes the whole loop, including writing and publishing the fixes, Meev starts at $49/mo with no per-engine math and no procurement cycle.
